Finally – new book coming!
I originally published “It’s Life Jim” in 2014, and since then, there have been a couple of revisions, but nothing significant.
I ended up pulling it from the last self-publishing rip-off listings and have only sold ebooks from direct from my website for the last year.
My plan has been to completely rewrite it and add new content covering the last 10 years. This has been a huge task however, mostly because my neurodivergent brain keeps changing track and not settling on one clear direction. However, I took the last week to lock myself away and pin it down enough to actually make some progress.
I’ve made some good ground so far, and hopefully will be able to focus over the next month or so to complete it!!
The problem has been around whether to re-write the original or do a completely new book based on the last 10 years of discovery and change.
I’ve ended up doing a combination – keeping most of the original text, especially from the first part of the original book, but adding heaps more detail around everything from events, personal relationships, self-analysis etc, to create a far more personal experience. As it progresses, it becomes more reflective around my spiritual journey and how being neurodivergent played a far bigger role than I ever thought.
It also covers a lot more around my religious deconstruction journey, but hopefully in a way that is interesting and captivating, providing perspectives that are relatable and can perhaps help others that are wrestling with these things.
The new tentative title is “It’s Life, Jim, But Not As We Know It”.
I’ll keep you all updated, and may even share some snippets as I go.
(And yes, that’s me in the photo)
